Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend you protect yourself from unforeseen emergencies and purchase travel insurance.

We chose RBC Travel Insurance because it offers some of the most competitive and comprehensive protection packages in the industry. Some of us think our credit cards or workplace plans provide adequate coverage. You should research these plans thoroughly because many do not cover trip cancellation and interruption or offer the kind of protection you will get with our featured insurer. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Top Travel Tips

1. Make sure your passport is current and you have your tickets, documents and identification with you when you arrive at the airport. Make copies of the identification page of your passport. Carry one copy with you, separate from your passport, and leave one with family or friends at home.

2. Carry proof of travel insurance with you and be sure to also leave the policy number and other insurance information, such as the insurance company's name and phone number, with family and friends at home. Also, remember that travel arrangements are often non-refundable and purchasing cancellation and interruption insurance can help ensure that you don't lose your travel investment if you have to cancel your trip, come home early, or stay later at your destination.

3. Leave information about where you'll be staying with family or friends. Keep them informed of any changes.

4. Don't keep your credit cards, travellers' cheques, passport and other identification in the same place. If your wallet is lost or stolen you won't want to be left without identification or money.

5. Tell your neighbours you'll be going on Catch the Wave so they can keep an eye on your home. Have them pick up any mail or newspapers and, if possible, park a car in your driveway.

6. Airport line-ups can be long and a minimum of two hours is usually required for check-in, so arrive at the airport in enough time to ensure you'll get through security and make your flight. Make sure you don't have sharp objects in your carry-on luggage. Our ship, the Sapphire Princess, leaves at 5:00 pm sharp and you need to be onboard at least one hour beforehand.
